Money, Money, Money

We have been learning about Australian currency.

What are some of the things that you can see on each coin and note?  What do you know about each coin and note? What are some of the things that you can buy with each coin or note?

Some other things you could consider about money:

Why do we have money? What can’t you buy with money? What else can you use other than coins and notes to buy things? Do you think we will need money in the future to buy things?

Our First VoiceThread

JP made this amazing drawing of a super fast car. He told us it went at a ‘gazillion’ speed. We talked about speed being measured in kph – kilometers per hour. We tried to work out what number JP had written down as the super fast speed of his car by counting the zeroes on the end of the number. Do you know how fast JP’s super fast car is going?

You can add a comment to JP’s VoiceThread by clicking on the black box, record, or type under the VoiceThread. You can type in a comment or speak into a microphone. You will need to register with VoiceThread to leave a comment, or use the class login (coming soon).

Class blogs offer children a unique opportunity to be part of an online learning community. Through a class blog, children can share their work and ideas with each other, their families and the world. Children can also learn about keeping themselves and others in the class safe when using online environments.

Rachel Boyd, a teacher who also uses class blogs wrote the following list to describe some of the rich learning experiences that children can have using class blogs:
